Hear from the Buyers

“Established in 2003, Vimexco is one of the top 10 wine distributors in Vietnam selling a wide range of wine products from Europe, mainly France, Italy and Spain. Besides red wine and white wine, our portfolio covers brandy and cognac also. Our business is growing solidly given the strong wine demand in Vietnam, a country with a population of more than 90 million. We currently operate three retail shops in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. This is my second-year visit to Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair with the focus on sourcing fine wines to expand our portfolio. So far, I’ve got in touch with more than 10 potential suppliers for red wines, white wines and sparkling wines from France, Italy and Spain. Further talks will be conducted to conclude deals and the amount of orders will be normally US$40,000 to US$50,000 each. We will also meet some Portuguese exhibitors tomorrow to explore business cooperation. This fair provides a good chance to meet suppliers and source new products for expansion. It’s now a must-attend event for us every year.”
Nguyen Ha, Chairman, Vimexco Vietnam Company Limited, Vietnam

“Botella is a wine importer in Singapore selling a good variety of red wines, white wines and sparkling wines from different places such as France, Italy, Canada and Spain. We source directly from wineries all over the world with particular focus on wines that are not too commonly found in our local market. I visited Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair for the first time last year and successfully struck deals with two new suppliers from Spain. They are still doing business with us. This year, I’ve already found another new supplier from Spain. We are looking to place order of up to 1,500 bottles, subject to final negotiation. I am still looking around for more opportunities. This is a good fair offering a lot of choices. Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair is definitely a premier trade fair for the wine industry in Asia.”
Jey Kasavan, Business Manager, Botella, Singapore

Hear from the Exhibitors
“As Portugal is the Partner Country for Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair 2015, this will make us more visible and enable Portuguese wines to stand out prominently in this magnificent showcase. We’ve brought together a total of 40 Portuguese exhibitors to showcase wines from different wine-growing regions in our national pavilion this year. We are producing a diversity of beautiful wines with new aroma and flavor to meet market needs. Demand for Portuguese wines is growing significantly in the Chinese mainland and Asian markets. This large-scaled fair attracts a lot of buyers and traders from different places, providing a strategic gateway to penetrate the Asian markets in particular. We’ve been generating good business from the fair over the years. That’s why many of our wine company would like to come here year after year. This is really an important platform for more people to appreciate Portuguese wines and for us to explore more business opportunities.”
Nuno Vale, Marketing Director, ViniPortugal, Portugal

“Oriental Pearl is a leading player in the import, wholesale and distribution business of wines. We are selling a comprehensive range of wines primarily from the USA and France catering to different needs and preferences of customers. Our business is expanding at a strong pace with the focus on the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong markets. We’ve been participating in Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair for many years. This exhibition is getting more and more successful each year so we’ve increased our booth size again this year to raise our profile and reputation. Premium wines from US California are being highlighted in particular this year and buyers’ feedback has been positive. The grand tasting event in the first day of exhibition also features our US California vintage and French champagne, drawing more attention from buyers. Customers like to drink different wines. We have a lot on offer and this fair is the right place to expand our presence.”
Ming K.S. Sze, Managing Director, Oriental Pearl (Hong Kong) Limited, Hong Kong

“The vineyards of Sunshine Creek span about 23 hectares of land at the exciting wine region of Yarra Valley in Australia. Our wine variety ranges Cabernet Sauvignon to Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. We produce about 6,000 cases of wines per annum. Most of the products are exported to the Chinese mainland with a small amount of sales in Australia. We are exhibiting in Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair for the third year to make our brand more recognized internationally. This is a great opportunity to promote our wines to Hong Kong consumers as well as wine lover in other Asian markets. At last year’s exhibition, we met many Chinese mainland customers and a number of buyers from different places like Korea, Vietnam and India showed strong interest in our products. I have been growing grapes and making wines for 35 years. The Hong Kong fair allows us to reach out to buyers who love our wines. This is just the first day of exhibition but the feeling is really good about getting positive responses again.”
Mario Marson, Chief Winemaker, Sunshine Creek, Australia
