Business Opportunities Abound at Top-notch Global Wine & Spirits Event
Demand for wine and spirits continues to blossom globally – and nowhere more so than Asia. Hong Kong is the natural hub of the wine and spirits business within the region, thanks to its expertise and cosmopolitan atmosphere. In 2013, Hong Kong’s wine imports amounted to HK$8 billion.

All this makes the HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair the ideal platform for buyers to connect with suppliers from around the world.

The Global Wine and Spirits Event
The popularity of the fair can be gauged from attendance figures. The 2013 edition attracted more than 20,000 trade visitors over three days; Asian buyers were out in force, in particular, with an increase of 15% over the previous fair, with the Chinese Mainland, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Phillippines among the markets showing double-digit growth. In addition, on a single day over 23,000 members of the public flocked to the fair.

The 2014 edition of the show will play host to more than 1,000 exhibitors, with an exciting blend of Old World and New World wine-producing countries among them, as well as spirits producers from around the globe.

The fair provides buyers with more than just sourcing opportunities. It offers the chance to broaden knowledge, assess trends and enrich networks within the industry. In fact, the show has a mission to educate industry players, enabling them to make more informed decisions and allow their business to blossom as a result.

To assist buyers in grasping the pulse of the market, a number of events and activities are organised:

Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition: The first truly Asian wine competition is run in partnership with the London-based International Wine & Spirit Competition. It is created by those with an intimate knowledge of the Asian market, and among the highlights are Asian food and wine pairing awards and an award for the best wine produced in China. Fine Wine Tasting: Buyers can “taste their way around the world” in one venue! All wines in the fine wine tasting sessions are ranked 90 and above according to the professional ratings, and come from a broad spectrum of countries & regions.

Cocktail Demonstration: The kings of mixology demonstrate their skills and creativity at the Ice Bar, a popular spot for the exchange information and ideas on spirits, as well as for networking.

Wine Industry Conference: This high-level annual event is an invaluable source of the latest industry information.

Wine-tasting sessions, forums and master classes are led by Masters of Wine who share their insights and opinions with buyers.

Unparalleled networking opportunities
In keeping with the conviviality of the wine & spirits business, the wine fair offers superb networking opportunities. This is a great chance for buyers to extend their business networks by meeting quality producers and suppliers, industry players and officials, peers and overseas media.
